I had the pleasure and blessing of staying with the Steubing family at their home-based lifestyle center from May 21-26. They have a beautiful 16-acre property in Lafayette, GA with two homes and a small lake. They also have a small organic veggie farm and fruit trees. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted by the entire Steubing family and Gabriela Garcia, a volunteer health educator.
The 5-day lifestyle program consisted of learning to cook and enjoy simple & healthy foods, hiking every morning, learning through health education classes, and hydrotherapy treatment. Our worship time with the family in the morning and evening was the best! The program also included taking classes from Dr. Dana Philossaint, a local psychologist with MindCare counseling center. I really enjoyed her lecture on “What is your Purpose?” and how forgiveness can lead to freedom.
My purpose for going to this lifestyle center was to rest, exercise, breathe fresh air, eat healthy food, lose weight, and have a closer walk with God. What I received in return was much more! I learned that healthy meals do not need to be four course meals but can be done in a simple, quick, and healthy ways. In addition, I learned that taking care of my health needed to be a priority so that I may be able to better serve God, my family, and others.
I also really enjoyed getting to know the other lady participant/patient in our group! We shared our deep personal struggles as moms, and we were able to share our personal stories on how God was able to reach us. It was clear that this was a divine appointment!
This was an amazing experience with wonderful and caring people. They touched my heart as they graciously served me! I truly saw Jesus in them!
With gratitude,
