LifeMed Clinic (LMC) opened its doors on May 3, 2021 with a mission to reveal God’s love through restoring the whole person through lifestyle medicine. We are grateful to be able to serve our 500+ patient members!
Here is a fun inside story of LMC’s first patient who was served the moment we opened our doors two years ago.
Dr. Greg Steinke (Medical Director for LMC): Rick, how did you become our first patient?
Rick Christman (Administrator for LMC): Well, I actually was not planning on being LifeMed Clinic’s first patient! As the administrator for LifeMed Clinic, I was working long days to prepare for the opening of LifeMed Clinic in 2021. The weekend before the opening day, I went on a camping trip with some friends to spend some quality time with God and friends out in nature. I ended up injuring my lower back on the camping trip and I was in so much pain that I ended up at the Erlanger ER.
After taking some pain medication on Sunday night (May 2, 2021), I started vomiting every 20-30 minutes and I could not stop. Thankfully, LifeMed Clinic was opening on Monday, May 3 and I showed up to work with my big glass salad bowl in hand ready for my next round of vomiting. I sure was glad I worked for LifeMed Clinic in my time of need!
Dr. Greg Steinke: Yes, I remember that day clearly. I couldn’t believe you were trying to show up to work! I’m glad we could take care of you.
Rick Christman: I realize I may be slightly biased, but the care I received was excellent! I really appreciated how you and Jeff Alger repeatedly washed my dirty bowl, ordered and picked up medicine from the local pharmacy, and encouraged me to rest. Even though it was not my plan to be LifeMed Clinic’s first patient, I look back on my experience with a good laugh and with gratitude. I believe it helped me have greater empathy for patients who come to LifeMed Clinic searching for healing.
As we reflect on how God has led us in the past, we look forward to seeing how God will lead in the future! We invite you to join us in praying for the following:
1) LifeMed Clinic’s patients and staff.
2) Donors who are willing to donate to LifeMed Clinic patient financial assistance program to help patients in need pay for medical expenses (membership fees, labs, medications, etc.).
3) Larger and affordable office space.
To Your Best Health,
Dr. Greg Steinke and Rick Christman
